- He graduated from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. Later, he did his masters in surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in 1988 and went to the UK for higher surgical training in GI surgery.
- Dr. Prasad is a leading laparoscopic surgeon renowned for his pioneering achievements. He performed the world’s first laparoscopic surgery for a gall bladder fistula with the large intestine, a groundbreaking procedure recognized in prestigious medical journals worldwide. He is also credited with the world’s first thoracoscopic removal of a lung hydatid cyst.
- Dr. Prasad’s expertise extends to a wide range of complex laparoscopic procedures for abdominal and chest conditions. Notably, he conducted one of the world’s first series in 1994, demonstrating the feasibility and safety of same-day discharge after laparoscopic gallbladder surgery.
- Additionally, he is among the few surgeons performing endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) for hyperhidrosis.
