When it comes to going to their bathroom, people generally don’t think much about their habits. People generally have a normal routine which they stick to. However, there might be some bathroom habits that can lead to, or be indicative of some health issue, which in some cases, may also be serious. Let us take a look at some of these issues, which might be dangerous.
Sitting in the toilet for too long
Once there is an urge, a bowel movement shouldn’t take over five-ten minutes. Sitting too long on the toilet and straining to have a bowel movement can be harmful to your health, as well as cause hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are an abnormal mass of dilated and engorged blood vessels in swollen tissue that occurs internally in the anal canal or externally around the anus.
Not Washing Your Hands After Taking A Pee
If you are urinating, sometimes you might not feel like washing your hands afterwards. However, this can sometimes make you very sick. Always wash your hands properly to avoid ingesting any kind of bacteria, viruses or other germs. These can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or an upset stomach.
Sharing Certain Products
If you are living with a roomate, it is important to avoid sharing personal hygiene products such as bathing soap, makeup or razors. Through these, skin infections, bacterial, viral and fungal infections can occur and spread.
Gadgets
In the age of technology, a majority of people living in urban areas take their smartphones, laptops, or tablets with them, to the toilet. Although we generally do clean our hands, we generally don’t clean our devices after we leave the toilet. After that, we might take our device with us and put it on our table during lunch.
It is best to leave your devices outside when you go to the bathroom. If you get bored, you can keep a game in there, like a Rubik’s cube, or a book.
Not Going to the Toilet When You Need to
When nature calls, you should head to the toilet, and avoid holding your bowel movements in. If you keep your bowel movements in, instead of releasing it, it can lead to severe constipation.
Urinating Too Often
If you experience the urge to pee increasingly quite often, it can be a symptom of several conditions. If this habit persists for a long time, it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor.
